Thomas Smith, the owner of PMI Bluecreek (formerly PMI Elite Baltimore), appeared as a featured guest in “From Football to Real Estate,” an episode of the Cash Flow Diary, a resource for new and experienced investors hosted by real estate industry expert, and financial coach J. Massey.
Smith’s successful career in the NFL lasted ten years, three times longer than the natural average, and when he retired in 2002, he found himself looking for his next project. Many NFL players go bankrupt shortly after retiring, but with a strong work ethic instilled in him as early as his childhood on his parent's farm, Smith was able to transition successfully into a full-time business owner. Already experienced in property management and investing, he joined PMI to open PMI Blue Creek after having built a successful transportation business, excited by the training, software, and network of experts PMI could provide.
PMI Blue Creek proved so successful; Smith purchased a second franchise, PMI Prince William, less than eighteen months later. In business, Smith stresses the importance of determination, vision, and having a plan you’re actively working to execute, all while being flexible enough to deal with issues and surprises as they come up.
